From a series of unique mixed media work on handmade Stephan Watson paper and canvas.
Fabrication notes from the publisher Gemini:
Aluminum, silicon monoxide and/or quartz were wrapped around a filament inside a vacuum chamber. The filament heated and melted the material into a vapor. The vapor spread out over the entire chamber coating anything in it. The paper to be coated, which was clean in order for the vapor to stick to the surface, was inserted into the chamber. There was no pigment in the vaporized materials. The color came from the interference of the light of the vapor on the surface of the paper. Different colors were achieved by the thickness of the vapor layers. The coating absorbs, transmits, and reflects light. The various cast paper blanks allowed a great deal of spontaneous consideration, since each surface was different and allowed the dispersal of light from the image to be varied throughout the series.
Each construction is signed and dated on the bottom. Comes with a certificate affixed on the back.
